Rob Whittaker vs. Marvin Vettori
UFC Paris Middleweight Co-Main Event
Saturday, September 3, 2022 – 12:00 PM EDT at Accor Arena
Whittaker vs. Vettori Betting Pick Analysis
The life and times of Rob Whittaker (23-6-0) have reached an awkward moment in his career. While he’s the former middleweight champion and the current No.2 ranked 185lb fighter on the planet, he’s unfortunately lost to the current champion, Israel Adesanya, on two separate occasions.
In Whittaker’s failed attempts to recover the championship gold, it's unlikely he’ll receive a title opportunity soon. So, unless Adesanya loses the belt, Australia’s most successful martial artist will be used as a gatekeeper for the up-and-coming middleweight contenders.
Speaking of up-and-coming contenders, Marvin Vettori (18-4-1) also received his opportunity in the octagon with Adesanya. The Italian-born 28-year-old does, however, have age on his side as well as notable durability that’s never seen him stopped via strikes or submission holds.
The top-ranked middleweights will lock horns on Saturday in Paris, but their future as title challengers will remain a mystery as they’ve both failed to overcome the current champ.
Rob Whittaker vs. Marvin Vettori Betting Pick and Odds
The most notable aspect of this upcoming bout is the longevity and durability that both men have proven during their careers. While Whittaker has been stopped inside the distance, it’s been a rare occurrence as he boasts a defensively sound skillset in all areas of the game.
Likewise, Vettori has been solid in his defensive attributes. And although I expect Whittaker to outclass the Italian in striking and grappling exchanges throughout the three-round contest, I don’t envision either competitor succumbing to a technical or submission stoppage.
The available UFC odds at top-rated sportsbooks are receiving most of the wagering interest on Whittaker, which is no surprise. However, priced at -260, expecting this fight to reach the judges’ scorecards is the most likely outcome, in my opinion.
UFC Parlay Prediction 1: Fight Goes the Distance (-260) at BetOnline
Fares Ziam vs. Michal Figlak
UFC Paris Lightweight Preliminary Bout
Saturday, September 3, 2022 - 12:00 PM EDT at Accor Arena
Ziam vs. Figlak Betting Pick Analysis
Fares Ziam (12-4-0) returns to his home country this weekend in his fifth UFC bout, having gone 2-2 in the promotion thus far. While the level of competition hasn’t been high, he’s notably returning to the octagon following a round-one submission loss to Terrance McKinney.
The Frenchman enjoys fighting at range, but outside of his lead jab, it’s a struggle to pave many paths to victory in what I believe is a one-dimensional skill set.
Michal Figlak (8-0-0) will make his UFC debut with an unblemished professional MMA record. And despite having faced a lower level of competition than what the UFC can provide, the Polish native dominated in the Cage Warriors promotion, a company that has delivered multiple past and future stars.

Fares Ziam vs. Michal Figlak Betting Pick and Odds
Ziam is predominantly a kickboxer, but as previously mentioned, he falls in love with his jab too much. Figlak is the opposite; he does everything right!
The Pole could find great success in the UFC; he has a clean set of offensive striking tools, relentless forward-moving pressure, and excellent boxing from the inside. In addition, the grappling advantage will favor the debutant, and his weekend opponent hasn’t shown me the aggressive nature I like to see in fighters.
The current UFC odds at Bookmakers Review are receiving most of the action on Figlak as the UFC pick, and although he’s unproven on the big stage, he’s remained a -200 favorite since the odds were released.
