Swinger’s NFL Week 7 Picks

Table of Contents

Week 7 is almost here and below we have three of our best bets on the NFL slate. Let’s peruse Sunday’s football menu and keep cashing our NFL picks!

Washington Football Team vs. Green Bay Packers

Sunday, October 24, 2021 – 01:00 PM EDT at Lambeau Field

We have all seen football games in which the heavily favored team just doesn’t show up to play. It mystifies us, bewilders us, and makes us a little bit crazy because we did our due diligence having researched the game using the historical data, the matchups, and injury reports, but the game went sideways and we have no idea how the lousy team kept pace with or even defeated, the vastly superior team.

Well, just like you and me, professional athletes are emotional beings and they also tend to take things for granted from time to time. This could be such a spot for the Green Bay Packers as they face the underachieving Washinton No-Namers.

Consider the conditions for the Packers as they enter this Week 7 matchup.

First, they just notched a win over a divisional opponent when they defeated the Bears, 24-14, last week. Secondly, they are now alone in first place with a 5-1 record and realize their biggest challenge to winning the NFC North comes in the form of the 3-3 Vikings. In other words, they’ve got the division on lock. And lastly, they are playing a 2-4 team whose highly-touted defense has abandoned them, which could cause them to overlook this one and look ahead to the monumental showdown with the undefeated Cardinals looming in the desert on Thursday night!

The above scenario is a recipe for disaster as we’ve seen this movie time and time again. Let’s grab the points with the road dog here and watch the WFT keep it close.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Tennessee Titans

Sunday, October 24, 2021 - 01:00 PM EDT at Nissan Stadium

If you are betting on either side of this game then all I can say is good luck. Kansas City has been enigmatic this season, to say the least, due to a defense that can’t seem to stop anyone except Washington last week. Much of that was due to the Chiefs clamping down on the run, yet, WFT still managed nearly 100 yards on the ground.

As for the Titans, they could be emotionally spent after their seismic 34-31 win over the Bills in which they not only rallied with 10 fourth-quarter points but stopped Josh Allen in his tracks at the goal line with no time remaining.

Derrick Henry should run wild yet again when he lines up against the Chiefs’ 27th ranked run-stop unit, allowing 133.2 points per game. Likewise, Ryan Tannehill should have no problem completing passes against the 25th ranked KC defense.

But it won’t be one-sided, no way, no how. Patrick Mahomes will shred a decimated Titans’ secondary and will move the ball up and down the field at will. But will I lay 5 ½ points on the road with this iteration of the Chiefs against a 4-2 club like the Titans? Ah, that’s a hard no.

However, what I will do is go over in this one. The NFL odds at all of the best online sportsbooks are dealing this total at 57 ½ but we found one major that is offering 57 and we will take every little advantage available, even a hook on a total.

Detroit Lions vs. Los Angeles Rams

Sunday, October 24, 2021 - 04:05 PM EDT at SoFi Stadium

This is such a chalky play I hate to even be associated with it, but the mismatch is there for the taking if the Rams can maintain their interest. And because of who this opponent is, I am quite certain they can, or at least Matthew Stafford can, as he will be lining up against his old team and will want to show them how well he’s doing since the breakup.

It’s kind of a “Look at me now” scenario and he has so many weapons with which to use against a Lions’ defense that is in the bottom third of stopping the run and defending the pass.

The only thing that could derail a Rams cover on Sunday will be the Rams themselves. And even then, they will likely win by a dozen. That’s how mismatched this game is, but when you are laying this many points, a backdoor cover is always possible so beware of that.

Nevertheless, don’t let the points scare you, just be cautious with your unit size as laying north of two touchdowns is rare in the NFL.
