This week’s Sunday Night Football game features a matchup between two teams above .500 six weeks into the season.
The Atlanta Falcons will head out on the road to battle the San Francisco 49ers in what should be an epic NFC showdown. The Falcons are sitting at 3-2, which is a bit surprising. But what’s even more surprising is the fact that the San Francisco 49ers are 4-2 with all of the injuries they’ve endured this season. The 49ers have already been without George Kittle and Brock Purdy for a handful of games. Yet, last week, defensive captain Fred Werner was carted off the field. It was another major injury for the 49ers. But again, somehow they continue to find a way.
They’re the favorites leading up to this Sunday Night showdown. Below, I’ll provide the Sunday Night Football bets that make the most sense. You can check out the football bets for this game and any game at Bookmakers Review.
Best Bets for San Francisco 49ers vs. Atlanta Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons are starting to gel on the defensive side of the ball. The Falcons allowed just 14 points in a home win over the Buffalo Bills in last week’s primetime matchup. Now, they’re set to face a 49ers team that, according to the NFL betting picks, might be getting healthier on the offensive side of the ball.
Quarterback Brock Purdy and tight end George Kittle have been practicing this week. It’s unclear if either of those two will return to the lineup for this game. But it’s promising news.
In addition, this battle will be between defensive coordinators who were both head coaches for the Jets at some point last season.
Jeff Ulbrich was the interim head coach for the Jets last season and is now the defensive coordinator for the Falcons. Meanwhile, Robert Saleh is currently the defensive coordinator for the 49ers after spending multiple seasons as the main guy with the Jets.
Now those two will compete against one another in Sunday’s game.
Sunday Night Odds (49ers -2.5 +100)
The 49ers opened as a 3.5-point favorite heading into this game. However, with the Falcons’ win against the Bills and uncertainty with starters for the 49ers, the Falcons are now just +2.5 (-120) against the spread.
In addition, other available lines show the total has increased from 44.5 (-115) to 47.5 (-105).
The Falcons showcased a lot of offense in the win against Buffalo, and with the potential return of Purdy and Kittle, everyone is attacking the Over.
Sunday Night Picks (49ers -2.5 +100)
Sunday’s matchup will likely be a close one. After all, the Falcons have scored and allowed 20 points per game. They’re an average team, with a 3-2 record.
On the other side, the 49ers have actually allowed more points than they’ve scored this season. Yet, San Francisco is 4-2 and tied with the Seahawks and Rams for the top spot in the NFC West.
You’d expect the 49ers to regress, but with Kittle and Purdy potentially coming back, that might not be the case.
The 49ers have only rushed for 82.17 yards per game. That needs to change for the 49ers to have any kind of success down the road. On the other hand, the Falcons have allowed only 139.4 yards in the air. San Francisco is coming into the game having thrown for 291.50 yards per game this season.
Under Purdy, the 49ers will likely be more balanced. It’s why you’ll want to consider the 49ers at -2.5 (+100) on Sunday Night Football among all the other spreads available.
49ers Christian McCaffrey (Over 60.5 Rushing Yards)
Christian McCaffrey has added at least 61 rushing yards in at least 17% of games this season. He’s come close over the last handful of games, but has finished with 55, 52, 49, 59, and 54.
But if the 49ers play Purdy and Kittle and have more of a balanced attack, you’d like to think McCaffrey can escape for some big gains down the field. He’s played at least 85% of snaps in four consecutive games and has earned at least 17 rushing attempts per game in that span.
He’s not breaking out for massive gains, but against the Falcons, it’s much more likely. Either way, you should check other player props available for this game.
Bank On The 49ers & Check Out Other NFL Odds
The San Francisco 49ers continue to find ways to win, despite being down many players. This week, they might actually get some of their key players back. This will allow them to play a more balanced style of football.
I’ll be rolling with the 49ers at -2.5 and love the idea of backing Christian McCaffrey to earn at least 61 rushing yards. If the 49ers want to be successful throughout the season, McCaffrey needs to earn more rushing yards per game.
