France’s Ligue 1 enters matchday 10 this weekend with PSG kicking off proceedings against Angers on Friday, and Marseille rounding out matchday 10’s slate with a clash against Lorient on Sunday. In between, soccer fans can find a ton of intriguing matchups to spot for their soccer betting thrills.

In this column, we preview a couple of matchups and provide predictions and soccer picks for your consideration. So, without too much preamble, let’s get started.

Lille vs. Clermont

Saturday, October 16, 2021- 11:00 AM EDT at Venue Stade

Lille is coming off a note-worthy 2-0 win over Marseille to extend their winning form to three-straight in Ligue 1 action. Across all competitions, Lille is 3-0-2 with losses to Salzburg in UEFA Champions League and a 1-0 loss to Lens in Ligue 1 action over their last five fixtures overall. On the season, Lille is 4-2-3 with 14 points and sat pretty in eighth place.

Clermont is coming off a 1-1 draw to Lorient in their last domestic outing, snapping a two-game losing streak that included losses to Monaco (3-1) and Rennes (6-0). Overall, Clermont is 2-4-3 on the season with 10 points – a run of form that has them sitting in 15th place and four points shy of the relegation zone.

Ligue 1 resumes after an international break to accommodate World Cup qualifiers around the world. Lille’s David is likely unavailable for this matchup as he was serving Canada on international duty. But even without David, Lille has a good shot to secure the away win over a struggling Clermont side that’s fritted away points in its last three home fixtures with a loss to Monaco (1-1) and back-to-back draws against Brest (1-1) and Metz (2-2).

Lille is favored across multiple soccer betting markets for the away win, albeit with Ligue 1 odds just above even money. That’s the value play for soccer picks as Les Douges look to keep the momentum going.

Nantes vs. Bordeaux

Sunday, October 17, 2021 - 9:00 AM EDT at Venue Stade Matmut-Atlantique

Bordeaux is still searching for its second win of the season as it prepares to welcome an in-form Nantes side to the Stade Matmut-Atlantique Sunday. The market for this game is surprisingly tight, belying the contrasting fortunes of these two Ligue 1 representatives.

Nantes is riding high in France’s top-flight league, sat pretty in ninth place with a 4-1-2 record and 13 points. Bordeaux is 1-4-4 on the season with seven points and teetering on the edge of the drop zone. Nantes went into the international break following a 2-0 win over Troyes. It marked their third win in their last five domestic fixtures.

Nantes won the last meeting with Bordeaux 3-0 last season. Nantes’ Ludovic Blas is leading the attack with five goals in this campaign. He’s tied on third place for the most scored in France’s top-flight action so far. Bordeaux will be keen to turn around it’s fortunes after the international break.

They lost their last Ligue 1 fixture to Monaco 3-0 on the away, a loss that snapped a two-game unbeaten streak that resulted in back-to-back draws against Rennes (3-3) and Montpellier (1-1). Les Girondins have a shot in this fixture because Nantes can struggle on the away.

Nantes is 1-1-2 in its last four Ligue 1 fixtures on the away. That said, they did pull off a 4-1 win over Angers on the away recently and held Monaco to a 1-1 draw. So long as Nantes doesn’t underestimate Les Girondins and take their subpar form for granted, they have a good chance of cracking the win column.
