The Boston Celtics are currently on a seven-game winning streak. Can Boston continue its streak against the Atlanta Hawks, despite losing to them earlier in January? Below, we’ll take a look at the NBA odds and how you should be wagering over today. Let’s begin.
Atlanta Hawks vs. Boston Celtics
Sunday, February 13, 2022 – 2:00 PM EST at TD Garden
If you’re looking for some action before the Super Bowl, this is likely the game. The Atlanta Hawks will take on the Boston Celtics at 2:00 PM EST, right before the Super Bowl. Currently, the Boston Celtics are red hot, winning their last seven games.
But Boston’s most recent loss came against the Hawks, losing that game 108-92, on the road. Now Boston’s home and the Celtics have some new talent to showcase between Derrick White and Daniel Theis. In white’s debut, he scored 15 points, grabbed six rebounds, and has two assists in 28 minutes while shooting 50 percent of the field and 33.3 percent from deep.

White was a main contributor for the Spurs but now will be a role player for the Celtics. As he gets more comfortable with Boston, his numbers will increase. He seriously fits the Celtics and what they’re trying to do.
Anyway, the Hawks are one of the best offenses in the NBA, going up against one of the best defenses the NBA has to offer, in the Boston Celtics. The Hawks are scoring 114.3 points per 100 possessions while also shooting an effective field goal percentage of 54 percent. The Hawks will rarely turn the ball over and get to the line at a high rate, to begin with.
The Celtics, are holding opponents to 106.1 points per 100 possessions while limiting teams to just a 50.3 percent effective field goal percentage. Boston will also force turnovers at 14.5 percent of the time, but against Atlanta is doing well limiting those turnovers.
On the other hand, the Hawks don’t play the greatest defense. Atlanta is allowing teams to score 114.6 points per 100 possessions while earning just 12.5 percent turnovers. The Hawks will limit offensive rebounds to 25 percent of the time, but overall, Atlanta is giving up way too many good looks per game this season.
Meanwhile, Boston has been inconsistent offensively. Currently, the Celtics have been elite, but overall, the Celtics are shooting an effective field goal percentage of 52.2 percent and scoring just 110.6 points per 100 possessions. Still, the Celtics are scoring 100 or more points regularly during their win streak and that likely won’t stop against Atlanta’s poor defense.
Prediction
Therefore, I’ll grab over 220.5 in this matchup. The Hawks have good enough offense to stick around against this Celtics team. However, Atlanta just allowed 136 points to the San Antonio Spurs, who were without Derrick White. In four of their last five games, at least one team scored at least 124 points in a Hawks game. For our NBA picks, I’ll take the over in this matchup.
