It’s already the third series of the young season between the NL East rivals who hate each other. Then again, Philadelphia fans tend to hate everyone regardless of sport.
The Mets took two of three in Philly from April 11-13 and two of three at home from April 29-May 1.
The Phillies are huge disappointments at 11-14 and were just swept a two-game series at home by a bad Texas team – the boo-birds were out Wednesday, and Manager Joe Girardi’s seat is getting warmer by the day.

I tend to doubt Philadelphia wins today with Aaron Nola (1-3, 3.90) on the mound as he is 0-2 with a 5.79 ERA this season vs. the Mets. I do like Mets slugger Pete Alonso to have a big day.
He has five hits, three RBIs, and two runs scored in his past three games and is 12-for-34 with four homers, three doubles, and seven RBIs career off Nola.
On the flip side, Philly’s Bryce Harper is just 3-for-17 with a homer off Mets starter Taijuan Walker.

The series opener between these clubs, and I really don’t have a lean on which team might win this game as it was very tough to travel for both.
Obviously, a long flight from Miami for the Marlins on Wednesday after being shockingly swept in a three-game home series vs. Arizona, and the Padres had to play a doubleheader in Cleveland on Wednesday before flying back.

To win NL MVP, Padres' third baseman Manny Machado is up to a +850 third-favorite at BMR’s top-rated books, and I could make an argument he should be favored in carrying the offense without Fernando Tatis Jr. Machado is batting .365 with five homers and 18 RBIs.
