UFC Vegas 55 will have the return of the legendary Holly Holm against another top-ranked contender Ketlen Vieira on Saturday, May 21st.

There are two underdogs on this card in particular that stand out to my eye are Chase Hooper vs. Felipe Colares and Polyana Viana vs. Tabatha Ricci. Read below for my UFC Best Bets.

Chase Hooper vs. Felipe Colares

UFC Featherweight Preliminary Bout

Saturday, May 21, 2022 – 04:00 PM ET at the UFC Apex

Who is Chase Hooper?

Chase “the Dream” Hooper is an American mixed martial artist with a professional record of 10 wins (3 T/KO, 5 Submissions, 2 Decisions) and 2 losses (2 Decisions).

So far, Hooper has only made four UFC appearances and sits 2-2. His two UFC victories have been inside the distance; first against Daniel Teymur in 2019 by T/KO in round 1, and the second in 2020 against Peter Barrett by Submission in round 3. However, his two losses have been by unanimous decision against Alex Caceres and Steven Peterson.

The Dream has superb grappling skills that makes up for his lack in striking. But leading up to fight night, Hooper has been training with Stephen Thompson to build on his striking, so we should definitely see improvements in that department.

Who is Felipe Colares?

Felipe “Cabocao” Colares is a Brazilian mixed martial artist with a professional record of 10 wins (2 T/KO, 5 Submissions, 3 Decisions) and 3 losses (3 Decisions).

Colares has competed in five UFC bouts and is 2-3; all of these bouts were decided by decision and also in the Bantamweight division. This Saturday, Colares will be moving up in weight. Cabocao is also a grappler like Hooper, and also needs improvement in his striking.

Fight Prediction

The UFC Odds for this matchup are Felipe Colares -180 and Chase Hooper +155 at our top-rated sportsbooks and betting sites.

Chase Hooper has been an exciting, rising prospect to watch in the UFC and I am expecting a fun battle between these two on Saturday night.

Hooper will have a five-inch reach advantage and should utilize his lead jab more, especially after training with Wonderboy Thompson. Collar’s striking defense tends to have a lot of holes since he absorbs 4.65 significant strikes per minute. And this trait adds to why I am siding with Hooper in this one.

Cabocao is definitely a durable fighter, but he has fallen short in a technical bout three out of five times in the UFC.

Hooper is light and active on his feet, similar to Thompson. On the ground, Hooper is hard to control. So for me, the underdog in this one holds the most value.

Polyana Viana vs. Tabatha Ricci

UFC Women’s Strawweight Main Card Bout

Saturday, May 21, 2022 - 07:00 PM ET at the UFC Apex

Who is Polyana Viana?

Polyana Viana is a Brazilian mixed martial artist with a professional record of 12 wins (4 T/KO, 8 Submissions) and 4 losses (1 Submission, 3 Decisions).

Viana is primarily a grappler and has finished all three of her UFC victories by submission. In fact, all of her 12 victories have been inside the distance. She is currently on a 2 fight win streak with 2 submission wins in the first round against Emily Whitmire and Mallory Martin.

Who is Tabatha Ricci?

Tabatha “Baby Shark” Ricci is a Brazilian mixed martial artist with a professional record of 6 wins (1 T/KO, 2 Submissions, 3 Decisions) and 1 loss (1 T/KO).

Ricci is also a grappler with a background in jiu-jitsu. Her only professional loss was by T/KO against Manon Fiorot in her UFC debut.

Fight Prediction

Tabatha Ricci is currently the favorite for Saturday night with UFC Odds at –134 and Polyana Viana the underdog at +114.

It makes sense why Ricci is favored in this one; she is extremely skilled and also durable. However, she did show her chin is crackable in her UFC debut.

In this grappler vs. grappler matchup, we will most likely watch the two wear each other down on the ground. But if either is not getting their way, which will most likely happen, then this will be a standing bout which I will then favor Viana.

Viana strikes with a lot of volume and accuracy, and the fact that all of her victories have been finishes is what’s most impressive to me.
