We have some great NHL matchups on tonight’s card, focusing on the New Jersey Devils playing host to the Stanley Cup Champions the Colorado Avalanche, as well as Pittsburgh Penguins looking to get back to winning ways following back-to-back losses in Canada against the Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames.

Colorado Avalanche vs. New Jersey Devils

Friday, October 28, 2022 – 07:00 PM EDT at Prudential Center

Devils and Avalanche Prop Bet: Jesper Bratt / Valeri Nichushkin

We believe this same game multi-play represents some good value at +140 as both Jesper Bratt of the New Jersey Devils and Valeri Nichushkin of the Colorado Avalanche are ranked in tied 1st spot for the most points in the league, sitting alongside some big names such as Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Artemi Panarin, Sidney Crosby and David Pastrňák (fine company indeed).

They are both their teams' top points scorers at this stage of the season and Nichushkin has scored at least 1 point in every game played so far this season, Bratt has done the same for the Devils and although both players are due a pointless night, we are hoping they stay hot tonight and contribute to the scoreboard for their teams at +140 for both to see at least one point in tonight’s game.

Avalanche Prop Bet: Mikko Rantanen

Sticking with one of Colorado’s players here we are laying the juice on Finnish winger Mikko Rantanen to see his shots total go over 2.5 tonight at NHL odds of -130.

So far this season Rantanen has averaged 3.2 shots per game and seen his shots total hit in 5 of his first 7 games this season.

The Devils have been very good at keeping their opponents quiet this season allowing only an average of just 18.28 shots per game, a very low percentage indeed, but we are confident that Rantanen will hit 3+ shots in this spot tonight, the Devils have more dangerous players to worry about.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Vancouver Canucks

Friday, October 28, 2022 - 10:00 PM EDT at Rogers Arena

Penguins Prop Bet: Sidney Crosby

Sidney Crosby has been on fire this season, picking up 11 points already for his Penguins team, and has 4 more points than Evgeni Malkin for overall points leader on the roaster. 35-year-old Crosby has adapted his game a lot in recent years and the fruits of his labor are finally paying off it seems.

Crosby has seen at least one point in 5 of 7 games this season and scored 3 points in a further 3 games. The last time Crosby faced the Canucks he scored 3 points in a 4-1 Penguins victory.

We also like the angle here that Crosby didn’t score last night, he rarely goes 2 games in a row pointless, if we believe he can score one, he has proven to us he can get a second and possibly a third. Crosby seems to love playing in this arena having scored 3/2/2/1/2/1/0/2 points in his past 8 visits.

Bold prediction he will score 3 assists tonight on the road in Vancouver.

Canucks Prop Bet: Bo Horvat

Ironically the Canucks finally got their first win of the season last time out when Bo Horvat had the most time on the ice the entire season and failed to score a single point having done so in 5 of the previous 7 games for scoring a total of 17 goals, Horvat contributed 4 goals and 2 assists.

It could be back to normality for Horvat tonight with a loss in the game but getting on the scoreboard. As we said, he failed to score in his team's last game but has not gone back-to-back pointless nights so far this season.

He seems to be keeping consistent form dating back to the end of last season where he scored points in 14 of his final 21 games and only went back to ack pointless once during that spell.
