Because this is college football and he’s playing in furtherance of his career so this TD improves his stats and adds another highlight to his resume for the scouts. Also, he allowed the Canes defense another opportunity to stop A&M where they hadn’t scored a TD all game.

The FG kicker lost all confidence. I don't care if it was a 15 yd FG, you couldn't trust him in that wind.

That's the only way I was slightly rationalizing it

But he generally is a pretty good kicker and it would've been like a 19 yard field goal straight away

Hard to mess that up
