My opinion on whether or not to hedge a bet/wager has always been this:

1. This varies per person. The money at stake to win or lose can be more important to some than others.

2. The bettor has to ask themselves these questions as to which scenario will bother them or satisfy them more

Which one will I be more upset with?

A. If I do not hedge and I lose everything

B. If I hedge, and the original wager wins, so I regret losing out on a bigger payday

Only each individual can make this determination

Well, unless your plan is to hedge from the outset, like when you bet multiple tennis futures with a plan to cashout as many as possible when they go deep, it's usually 'bad' to hedge math wise.

But I think we have all been in the situation where we took a cheap parlay only to realize we really don't feel good about having 50x our normal bet size riding on that last leg! :D

So yeah, I'd agree it's all about how much that money means to you personally.
