The Las Vegas Raiders have been linked to selecting Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. And while he’s considered the top prospect in this year’s draft class, former NFL scout Daniel Kelly recently offered a harsh critique of the quarterback.

Why even pretend at this point? He's the pick.

Best thing now for the kid is let him know what to expect on draft night.

Can't believe I'm actually going to see the Raiders draft a true franchise QB.

Mendoza completed his pro day with Raiders brass in attendance.

By all acounts, he basically showed off. There were questions about his arm strength and he put them to bed almost immediately.

He threw one ball that traveled 65 actual air yards on a dime to his receiver. When Coach Kubiak saw that, all reports that he smiled.

Raiders are going to have dinner with him tonight.

It's now a mortal lock from God. Fernando Mendoza will be the 1st pick in the Draft and a Las Vegas Raider.

Let's not put too much pressure on the Kid. Hit us back in a couple of years and see how he performs. Mendoza seems like a good guy and I hope he succeeds. But he has not done a damn thing in an NFL Game yet.

The important thing is he put to rest the only concern they had about him.

If they protect him with a proper O line, the sky is the limit for this kid.

Of course but no one is saying he's the greatest ever yet.

He is ahead of where Brady was at this point in his life though. Brady was a 6th round pick, he's going 1st overall.

There is a TON of pressure on him already but the kid comes from a great family backed by a strong Catholic faith.

I don't see anything that can stop this kid right now except if the Raiders neglect the O line which they haven't as attested by the signing of Linderbaum.

Yeah need to have a solid O line for sure. Throwing to Bowers will help, and maybe Jeanty breaks out this year. Last year was a wasted deal in the desert with a washed up coach and QB. The future looks brighter for sure. But injuries can happen and other factors can arise as well. See what happens.

Exactly. The worst thing would be turning this kid into a Cincinnati Bengals type situation where you have an elite QB but a horrendous O line and he's always injured.

Fukk that to Hell.

Recently, people have been calling for the Raiders to get a top WR with their 2nd round pick but I say fukk that noise.

Draft a Tackle with the 2nd round pick, you can always get a top receiver in next year's draft.

Yeah Joe Cool one of the better QB's in the league but often injured. LV does need to upgrade the WR room and will be interesting to see how they draft.

Mendoza is the future.

This was essentially a one year deal for the Raiders.

Really smart move by the Raiders.

He will mentor Mendoza for a year so the kid can sit back and learn.
