^^^ I have been saying his length is going to allow him to goaltend. Those refs have never seen any player be able to get to ball that high before, they assume has to still be going up if it isn;t obvious.

I am def hopping in on Cavs series price down 0-1. Tonight was laughable, that rosey cheek pillsbury ref took Allen off the floor right away, that 30-14 lead was ball game. I cannot wait to finally get a good win after a couple days on Cavs ML in game 2.

Interestingly, he went 7-36 on three pointers in the series (equally terrible home and away). In GM1, Wemby had a bad shooting night (and if goaltending would be called correctly, he would just have a bad night *overall*) - and you want to attribute it to something else than Finch's defense and Gobert being a great defender?

Wemby bricking threes doesnt have much to do with gobert. But i agree playoff gobert at age 33 gives way better effort then regular season. He jogs around most of the regular season and it makes me mad

TBH this is as coaching edge / beautiful game plan as a 'Gobert thing'.

Everyone on the team brings the energy to defend. If Wemby is 80% of the Spurs defense, he gets tired the most (by far). It showed in 4Q gm1 when he could barely move. That 4Q didn't happen by accident. The guys aren't just saying 'He'll have to block it every time' and 'We're not going to stop going to the rim' in the pressers. He can block 25 shots but he'll get called for fouls and yes, he'll get tired eventually.

Every time Wemby leaves the game (like game 2 of the previous series that Portland managed to steal) or gets gassed (like the last game) Spurs just don't have enough to stay competitive.
