Had a family member who dealt with something similar - young kid accused of shaken infant.

Now he was no angel - nor was he the sharpest knife - but low level shit, nothing ever violent. He called ambulance - panicked when cops escorted them there and ran out the back door as they arrived.

Baby taken to hospital and doc started asking questions - including the obvious of where are the parents - moment the EMS worker said “dad ran off as we arrived on scene” - they immediately started saying it was an abuse situation.

He was charged and local prosecutor who was running for judge made damn sure they put on a show of how “tough” they were on crime like this and protecting innocent children. Never went to trial - he committed suicide first.

Prosecutor won election and became judge - 20 years later crime went from a minor issue to a major one as opioids exploded as the local courts ignored the problem and failed to take any real steps to get rid of local pill mills and dealers. Oh and they also acknowledged that the baby had developmental disabilities and did not exhibit any signs of damage as a result of abuse. Much of what they initially felt was “abuse” was likely things they had missed in limited prior doctor visits with the local free clinic.

Long time ago my first wife slipped and fell on a slippery driveway where water had been sitting a while

Put a very large knot on her head so I took her to hospital

Sure enough couple nurses and others are over there asking if I did this to her

Really pissed me off and her too

It's bullsh!t that authorities just take the word of someone in the medical field, when it is only based on suspicion or opinion

We know how any female can cry rape or sexual assault and they instantly believe them and arrest the guy

Looks like this happens in everything else too......pathetic

this is crazy a judge stopped the execution but they appealed and it could still be back on

it's a really tricky case the kid was sick all the time had a very high fever he said kid fell out of bed when he took to hospital they suspected abuse guy didn't show any emotion but was later diagnosed autism the whole case is sad just doesn't feel like a death penalty case when there are doubts save the death penalties for the more obvious crimes
