Wow! I've seen this kind of reaction from Tennis players before.

So it's an unacceptable but understandable reaction.
the reaction by Ymer was def too much. Players smash their raquets and break their racquets on the court all the time. Ymer broke his racquet smashing it on the umpires chair. That's not accetpable.

However, as the official, your job is the be fair and be a referree. And he failed at that too

both are in the wrong here

But how come the umpire didn't check it?

great question. That's what escalated the whole situation. Ymer claimed the ball was out, line judge said IN.

The judge's responsibility at this point is to get off his chair and point at the mark to show the player the ball was in. Often times it's still disputed, but at least the chair official acknowledges where he sees the ball

by not leaving his chair, the situation escalated to the video

Does the ATP also investigate the umpire when this happened?

yes, but they typically won't announce anything to the fans. Will be internally handled. So we won't see an end result unless we never see that line judge again which would be shocking to see him get fired over that

So we get to enjoy the smashing video and the drama, but don't see results of what ATP does to the official

Nice! I didn't know ATP works this way, like settling issues in silence. Just fresh to see it that way since almost all other sports inform the media of all the happenings to their players/coaches/referees haha
