Tanko tell me why you like Kansas tomorrow ?
In NCAA/NIT tourny games I look more closely at two things:
  • Efficiency Margins
  • Tempo/Eff FG%
to create a spread. Each of these shows St Johns with a 1 pt edge. I like getting the +3.5 for KU.

Whenever I see a game that I like a side on with a ~1 pt margin, I look at similar game matchups for each team. If I see an edge, I'll add ML. Doesn't happen a lot but, it matched up w/ Kansas.

Adding a few more....
Miami Fl +8 -108 BM
Iowa +10.5 -108 BM
Iowa State -5 -108 Heritage
Looks like we're going head to head on the Kentucky game Tankster. I like Kentucky as an underdog under Pope. Throw in the fact that I see them playing with no pressure on them today after they snuck past Santa Clara and I think they're live to win this game against a Cyclone team that will be without their best player. 5 points is a lot of points for a team to cover that doesn't shoot free throws well so I took the Cats. We'll see but I do like UK's chances today to pull off the outright upset.

I like that ISU found a lot of scoring from many players last game (w/out Jefferson). I think Kentucky will try to shutdown Momcilovic and may be succesful but, with contributions from everyone else (I hope) and their tenacious D, I'm thinking the Cyclones cover.

Otzelberger seems like a great coach. Hoping he can adapt his team well to playing without Jefferson.

It'll be a close game so I think those 5 points come in handy especially against a team that doesn't shoot free throws well in Iowa State. Couple that with the fact that I think they're easier to guard without Jefferson and I think Kentucky can win this game as long as they take care of the ball and the defensive glass.

Iowa State shot lights out that 2H and the defense was incredible. I think Kentucky had 20 turnovers.
I was worried about Kentucky's inability to handle the ball and it came into play today. It's no coincidence they had 20 turnovers because they really only have one ball handler and Aberdeen isn't a true point guard. Lowe would have helped in that game but his injury came back to bite Kentucky because they didn't have a backup Point guard and it hurt them big time against Iowa State's pressure defense.

Can't argue about that.

But, Aberdeen can shoot though. Incredible shooter. I think he's a senior and gone, right? So Lowe will be HUGE next year for the Wildcats.

Yeah Aberdeen and Oweh are both gone. I worry about Pope's recruiting because so far he has no recruits for next season. That could be because several guys are returning with Lowe being one of them. People want Pope gone but honestly I think next year is a do or die for him since I don't see him getting fired despite people not being happy with him right now. I still like Pope but my one concern is that so many guys are choosing to go elsewhere instead of playing for Pope at Kentucky and that's not good. If he can't recruit better than I am going to be in the get a new coach camp but for now I still think Pope should be the coach at UK.
