I started bCk when I cashed out a nice payday from Betus. Used 50% on some sports cards so at least when all the Gambling $ disappeared I had so.ething of value to hold hahah

My grandpa was going thru things and found 3 OG unopened Pokémon packs and I sold them on eBay for $1800 no lie. I was so surprised.

people will also buy opened graded packed

the card game is wild
This is exactly what he told me. That the cards he's collecting today will have more value in the future. Damn! It's like a good investment.

It got to the point they were just too many products out there

That's why I finally just lost interest in rookie cards and narrowed it down to only collecting the numbered autograph and game worn jersey insert cards
Yeah that’s where it’s at bowman chrome autos

Jerseys sadly aren’t worth much without an auto with it but agree fun to collect them

That's a good idea to spend gambling winning on sports cards because you are less likely to sell the cards for gambling money then if you had the cash or even worse bitcoin

Great point Super.

I put extra winnings in Gold or Silver, vintage sports cards a good idea also. Clicking a button to sell bitcoin, stocks, is too easy these day.

Physical things have that extra layer needed to sell, you are more like to keep.... and watch your stack grow whatever it may be.

Agree & admire you here

Been wanting to start the Gold too but keep putting it off and of course it's not a cheap venture

Autographed Shohei Ohtani NPB Baseball Card Turns Heads With $430K Sale

Matt Musico
If there’s one thing the hobby has made crystal clear over the past year, it’s that Shohei Ohtani collectibles don’t sit still — they keep climbing.

The latest proof? A signed Shohei Ohtani NPB baseball card from his days with the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters just hammered at auction for $430,050.

According to Sports Illustrated’s Matthew Moreno, Goldin put this card on the block, and the bidding didn’t stop. There were 59 total bids before the hammer dropped. As you can see above, the card features a young Ohtani in the middle of his delivery at the top, accompanied by his signature at the bottom.

Oh, and here’s the kicker: only 10 copies of this specific card were ever produced. The scarcity factor alone is enough to drive prices higher, but pair that with Ohtani’s signature, and you’ve got a recipe for eye-popping results. As this currently stands, the $430,050 sale is the highest price ever paid for any pre-MLB Ohtani card.

Based on how the market has been for anything featuring Ohtani recently, the next logical thing to wonder is how long it will take for this record to fall.

This stuff is getting crazy - every day they make a new 1/1 or super rare card…at a point it’s too much.

Even junk wax stuff commanding big bucks - reading about the 85 Topps Tiffany Clemens rookie that just brought stupid money - was a PSA 10 of course - but wasn’t too long ago it was a 14k card…now well beyond that. I mean scarce for sure - but if the 5k they made - let’s say 3% are 10s…that’s still 150. And that’s one card from a loaded rookie year.

Seriously - I want to know who these people are that are paying 5k+ for any modern day chase cards?

I suspect 90% of the market for the high end stuff - and probably 99% of the ultra high end (50k+) is controlled by less than 1000 people/influencers. That’s just a bubble waiting to happen.

These cards are primarily a US/Canada thing - aside from Ohtani of course.

It’s feeling an awful lot like the vinyl record bubble post 2021 to me right now. Don’t get me wrong - a first state “butcher cover” will always be desirable for example - but the latest reissue on some never before r
