I'm still having problems too. Been owed for over 7 months now. I read something about a Facebook group but I can't find it.

Anyone know any good contacts, ie Racing Post that may be able to go further?

I would prefer just to try get a refund of my deposit. If we were to get them closed down we would probably end up with nothing! I heard They were almost insolvent earlier in the year. Obviously trying to get more money in from new customers and trying to keep afloat. Our only chance unless can force a refund, but if they haven't got it....

I respectfully disagree LFC2014. If they haven't got the money then we'll never get paid anyway. If I'm not going to get my money back then at least I can get this firm wound up so that other innocent members of the public aren't defrauded.

very starnge as they have a full on website offering up to date prices

so who is betting with them with all this bad publicity

it must be costing them to run such a site and if no one is betting with them anymore how are they sustaining themselves

All what bad publicity? An old article from the Irish Times and a few obscure blog postings? I doubt that their turnover has been seriously affected, and I can't imagine Messrs O'Neill and Rice are too bothered.

but why even accept these few bad blogs and articles by not paying out ...surely people only play to win and pointless playing if you fear never being paid out....are you suggesting thats its only a few that are not getting paid

I suspect they payout small withdrawl requests and the big ones go unpaid. But I'm only guessing...

you are absolutely right, once you are losing no problem,if you win a small amount you might get paid.I had not won for 2 years but then i started to win.I did get paid €500 last year although it took 2 months.I was in credit for €3045 and tried to withdraw €1000.that was June 15 last year.My account was closed and I have not got any payment since. They basically told me to pursue any legal means I like to get the money and say gambling debts are not enforceable by law in Ireland.
Anybody who owes money to SS please note

I have just joined this forum to try to get something done about sportsspread. They have openly admitted to me that they have payment problems which, combined with their ongoing trading and touting for business amounts to fraud and theft. They are aware of the legal position in Ireland with regards to gambling debts. I have had a reply back from the Department of Justice, no less, advising me that they cannot help me. I will continue to seek to get the money owed to me but feel it is important to try to get them off line to stop thieving from others.

What specifically did they say the payment problems were? I don't think they have a general problem; they simply have a policy of not paying out anyone who wins big.

Below is an email I received from Brian O'Neill in January this year. Of course it all just seems like delaying tactics and utter rubbish. He talks about having 'payment problems' for a year but forum searches make it obvious that this has been their way for many years. It also appears that they do not pay out some 'small' winnings. I have tried many avenues including the Department of Justice in Ireland and am still not getting anywhere. I could accept all this if they were no longer trading but they are still taking money of unsuspecting people. I am thinking of contacting Bank of Ireland whom I think they bank with. Has anyone got any other ideas? At some time in the future I will visit their premises and try to ask questions directly but I can't imagine getting far with that one either. The 'good faith' payment never arrived and I have received nothing from them since.

Dear Robert,

We are still dealing with a substantial issue that has strait jacketed us for over a year.

We had a court hearing on Dec 3rd and outcome is "pending".

Success here brings the company back on an even keel and the two dozen or so outstanding payments will be made.

If not successful, we will probably have to consider a sale or merger proposal currently on table as we recognize the business cannot continue with the current uncertainty.

Notwithstanding the above, I will get you a payment early next week to show some good faith.

I understand your frustration and some the steps you outline are ones I might well consider if the shoe was on the other foot.

regrettably we have learned from long and expensive experience that enforcement of betting debts is a dead duck in Ireland at present (thankfully this is likely to change under new legislation this year) and this is largely the reason why we have endured large problems in past year as we are owed a large multiple of what we owe but reasonably good clients have started to exploit the lack of enforcement.

As stated above, we will come good with a good faith payment early next week and likely have all paid within a few weeks irrespective of legal outcome.

Best Regards

Brian

Its all lies mlan.

They have owed me money for over 2 years, will not communicate at all with me and have closed my account. Would they do that if they just had cashflow problems. I understand completely your frustration that the Irish authorities don't seem to care at all that a business is brazenly operating stealing money.

I know it is all lies. Brian O'Neill knows Irish Law can't touch him. I am contemplating ideas on how to proceed. I understand that journalist(s) or an Irish consumer programme may be interested but I have not had replies from preliminary enquiries. I wonder why racing publications have not highlighted this. Interestingly they are rated as 1 'slow pay' on this website instead of the 'scam' I think they deserve. Their operation needs to be taken off the www.
