The Astros have too big of an advantage on the mound to only be -130 favorites tonight. Framber Valdez went 11-6 with a 3.14 ERA in 22 starts last season. He has been dominant in two road starts this season, going 1-0 with a 0.93 ERA while allowing just one earned run in 9 2/3 innings.

Valdez owns the Rangers, going 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA in his last three starts against them while allowing just 3 earned runs in 19 1/3 innings with 22 K’s. He’ll be opposed by Dane Dunning, who is 0-1 with a 5.68 ERA and 1.894 WHIP in three starts this season. Dunning allowed 4 earned runs and 10 base runners in 4 innings in his lone career start against the Astros last season.

Texas is 1-11 in its last 12 home games after allowing 4 runs or less in three consecutive games. The Rangers are 19-43 in their last 62 during Game 1 of a series. The Astros are 97-41 in their last 138 during Game 1 of a series. Houston is 40-19 in the last 59 meetings. Bet the Astros Monday.

The Brooklyn Nets are making excuses now about team chemistry. They are ready to be done, and the Boston Celtics are ready to cap off the sweep tonight. The Celtics have completely neutralized Kevin Durant in this series. The Nets aren't good enough to win unless he has a monster game, which he hasn't had yet and I don't expect him to get off tonight, either.

The Nets don't play defense and they don't rebound, which is a team that is hard to trust. The Celtics just got Robert Williams back and may be the best team in the NBA now. Boston is 29-6 SU in its last 35 games overall. Give me the Celtics on the Moneyline.

My selection is on the 'under' between Utah and Dallas at 9:30 pm et on Monday.

The 'under' is 4-2 over Utah's last six games. The Jazz really are the perfect 'under' team right now, even if the results haven't been 'perfect'. They've made good on fewer than 40 field goals in six straight contests, most recently knocking down just 32 field goals in Saturday's tight 100-99 victory to even up this series at two games apiece.

On the flip side, Utah has held each of its last five opponents to 83 or fewer field goal attempts. Only once over that stretch did it allow 40+ made field goals, that coming in what I would consider an outlier - its 126-118 loss in Game 3 of this series. Even with Luka Doncic back in the lineup, the Mavericks aren't likely to push the pace any more than usual. They've gotten off 85 or fewer field goal attempts in nine straight games. They've also been held to fewer than 40 made field goals in three of the first four games in this series.

Defensively, the Mavs are as locked-in as any team right now, having held six of their last seven opponents to fewer than 40 made field goals. They've allowed the opposition to shoot an average of just 38-of-85 here at home this season with the 'under' going 28-14-1. Take the under.
