It’s a reminder what it is back in the day mob guy would bet with bookies and if they lost, they wouldn’t pay and nothing happened

Today you can still do it, especially if you’re a tough guy because bookies don’t do anything anymore if you don’t pay, they don’t wanna go to jail

Bookies I knew all were backed no doubt. I don't know really how it works anymore. Haven't used a local in over 20 years.

same here. i knew a few but never used them cause i was always afraid of getting in debt while betting with credit. now i don't know any personally. i would think you need that backing for the $$$ to pay and so no one fcuks you out of money.
