Charles Haley (same player that put them over the hump in the 90s)

Probably not the sexiest or most popular pick, but I’ve been a Cowboys fan basically since birth. Haley was basically unblockable and a sack machine. Would give this defense what it’s been lacking for years.

Obviously many great talents to choose from over the years but as far as pure need I’d go with Haley.
Didn't see this before my initial reply, but yes I agree and not a fan of the team

You think they beat that 94 SF squad?

I thought they were fortunate to get the ring in 95...that team was beat to shit by then.
I hate to say it or imagine it, but Cowboys were absolutely loaded. Johnson was basically the GM and coach. Cowboys were ready to be a dynasty until Jerry Jones got in the way. Absolute tragedy on the owner's part. Jimmy Johnson was the best coach around at that time. I'm going to estimate it cost the Cowboys at least 3 more Super Bowls.

Minny I think the Jones ego blowup left one maybe two rings on the table in the 90s when Jimmy left. It was the last dynasty of the pre-salary cap era.

Jimmy was so great at evaluating talent/trading and drafting that he could have built the base as needed.

The 95 team won in spite of Barry Switzer. I think some of them had mentally checked out after the three of four run because Barry was such a weak coach. Jimmy wouldn’t have allowed that plus all the players respected him.

Not saying Cowboys would have been as successful as Pats dynasty to come but if Jones would have just left Jimmy the hell alone for another 10-12 years there’s no telling what kind of dynasty he could have built
