A Nuclear-Capable Air Base Was Reportedly Probed by Unidentified Objects

Fox News and ABC News are now both reporting that Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana, home to nuclear-capable B-52 bombers and a key node in America’s nuclear command structure, experienced multiple unauthorized drone incursions during the week of March 9.

ABC reports the base went into a shelter-in-place on March 9, and that internal briefing materials described repeated waves of 12 to 15 drones moving over sensitive areas, including the flight line, using non-commercial signal characteristics, long-range control links, and apparent resistance to jamming.

According to that same reporting, the routes varied, the maneuvering appeared deliberate, and officials believed the operators may have been testing security responses. To me, that is the real story here: a highly strategic U.S. military installation was probed repeatedly for days, portions of operations were disrupted, and the public is still being given only fragments of the picture
