Not as eye popping as it seems. MLB has made the "National Pastime" a boring product. Most of our age group saw the transition from Baseball to Football. Even basketball turned more popular after Magic/Bird than Jordan/Kobe/Iverson. During this time, households began to get cable tv with ESPN and highlights we never seen before. Latin America Countries baseball and soccer is still life. They put the time in and deserve where those players are at today. Add in Ball fields take up space/ people don't have the back yards they use to. You don't see the ball fields you use too either. Can put a hoop anywhere. Cost is another issue.

Lets not forget parenting. More single parents. Someone has to work. Different World we live in. Not as eye-popping as it seems and MLB has their faults in it as well putting out a shitty product.

Not surprising. Here's 2022's breakdown by demographics.
In 1990 the breakdown was 68% white, 17% African American, 15% Latino according to Sabr.org.

African American share dropped by 10% over the last 30 years.

How can they address it?

there have been initiatives going on for decades, if I recall correctly the one I partnered with in Chicago was called RBI.

MLB has thrown millions at this this, because they realized that they need those young exciting tstars to keep a decrpit boring sport going. But they never were able to over come all the other market forces. It just seems unwinnable at this point. but I thinnk I remember reading about them throwing hundreds of millions in a new project back in covid times...

yeah 2021.... 150 milion dollars. problem is, as it trickles down the money does not get used correctly, the little leagues are shit due to lack of parental involvement and most high schools don't have the $ for programs or it's super shitty. so doesn't matter how much $ you use. it will never be enough

When l was following Creighton baseball in 2019 l watched all their games online. They were Lilly white and every team they played also. I thought when they went to Seton Hall or St Johns but no Lilly white also.
When they got in the tournament same thing except for Michigan finally a team with color lol.
We lost to Michigan in the final.

It's a combination of blacks simply having more interest in basketball & football, and them being better ON AVERAGE at those sports

Nobody should be scared to discuss that Blacks, Whites, Latinos, and Asians are all better ON AVERAGE at certain sports than the others are

Nothing racist about it, just facts and good discussion

As you noticed i stressed ON AVERAGE because obviously there are exceptions where we have great players of all colors in every sport

Example: Christian McCaffrey is currently the best all-around running back in the NFL.
But as we know, historically blacks dominate that position

The truth is there aren't any whites living in the urban areas anymore, hence less coaches and organized baseball during the summer....the sport has died in black America from lack of summer urban leagues due to white flight
