Multiple 49ers players said they were not aware of the NFL's postseason overtime rules.

Mahomes said after the game that Reid and the coaching staff preached the new postseason/SB OT rules to the team over and over again so many times that it became annoying.

Mahomes obviously said they he’s glad Reid did this because everyone on the team was on the same page and knew exactly what the scenario was in OT.

Difficult to fathom a coach not preparing his team for the potential of overtime in the Super Bowl and how they might deal with certain OT scenarios.

I guess that’s one of the reasons why Shanahan has come up short in close Super Bowl games multiple times now.

Guy spends so much time worrying about analytics and doesn’t focus on something like preparing his team for what might happen in postseason overtime.

It's what separates the big boys to the little guys. 49er coach completely outclassed, had no business even being in the Superbowl. A coach like Ron Zook would of never let that happen. Ron Zook would of won the SuperBowl if he was the coach.

This is the same Kyle Shanahan that, as Falcons Offensive Coordinator, could have run the ball up the middle on third down with two minutes to go up 8 against the Patriots in 2016 and kicked the game-clinching fg.

Instead he calls a drop-back pass, Matt Ryan gets sacked out of field goal range, and the Falcons lose to Brady and the Pats in OT.

Nothing we haven’t seen before.

One team was totally prepared and had a winning mindset. One team was confused as to what the rules even were. Falls on coaching staff.

Whats more concerning to me is the ref explained the OT rules. So how could they be confused? I wasn’t even on the field and I knew the rules.

San Francisco is not well coached. I didn’t like the playcalling on the last drive overtime.

When it was first in goal, I believe in overtime first and 10 around goal line running plays, killed them

It’s the contrast that is so surprising.

Niners players didn’t know anything about it while Chiefs players were sick of hearing about it.
