It's good for the regular season though
I don't agree with a lot of WAS takes on the NBA but I think the play in tournament is not necessary. Granted some teams like the Heat would have given up since they were 37-45 but I just think they have no business getting in the playoffs but they're going to if they win tonight. To me the NBA regular season is long enough to determine the 8 best teams in each conference plus I'm not sure these games other than the Warrior game with the Grizzlies have been all that entertaining. So to me I just don't really care for the play in tournament even though I love basketball.

I agree the 9/10 teams don’t belong. But it does create layers of importance down the stretch

The last 3 weeks of the regular season were great this year because of the play in . Teams 4-8 all about even and it created incentive for getting into the top 6 spots

I mean you have a point but I just think it's embarrassing that a 37-45 team has a chance. In any other sport they would have been mathmatically eliminated with about 10 games left. The play in tournament is only good because it somewhat prevents tanking by the teams that still have a chance at the postseason like Miami and Dallas who otherwise would've waived the white flag.

NBA is the only league that continually tries to figure out ways so the players don't have to play the game. Unwatchable and certainly not worth planning to attend a game. A perfect example as to why the commissioner is so important as this limp dicked idiot has let the players take over the game and the owners are afraid. I'll watch the TNT pre/post game show for the entertainment, but not the game.

I don't agree with coach Kerr's coaching but I do agree with him on one thing and that is that the regular season is too long. The NBA would be much better if the regular season were 50-60 games so that we get to the playoffs faster because those games are at least entertaining since you have the best teams playing hard for 48 minutes unlike the regular season where I feel like they don't even try half the time.

Yeah the difference in schedule between hockey and hoops is glaring.

NHL literally requires a gate to fund the franchise. If you miss the playoffs in NHL you lose money that year.

NBA is 100% tv funded. There is no need for regular season games going into the Spring.

Stephen A Smith nailed it

All you have to look at are the scores and you know the league is a joke and the statistics are a joke
I used to love it so much & followed it religiously

Now I cannot stand it

People think that scrub scoring 83 points last night is good for the league when it’s actually another example of what a joke it is
