As good of an album as the black album was when it came out - and as good as they were live prior to that - no way in hell I’d pay good money to see them live today.
It’s just another band who I don’t begrudge still playing live - rather it’s the idiots who pay thousands of dollars expecting the experience they had when they saw the band as teenagers 40 years ago. It’s not like that - tickets are not $15, your not 18 and the band is a complete business at this point in their careers.
I did get to talk to Kirk though 25 years ago on the phone though for about an hour - got to say he was actually very cool to talk to and much less of a dick than he comes off as in some press/interviews. It was early AM and I worked 3rd shift in an insurance company call center - seriously boring as we easily would get maybe 3-5 calls an 8 hour shift. Anyway he called to report someone hitting his car (high end vehicle of course) and I just told him I was a fan of some of his stuff and we wound up bullshitting for about an hour about music, cars, and Hawaii.
