feel like a woman should have to put up like 100k to file a sexual harrassment suit from over 20 years ago too easy ruin a person with false claims put up money and if found no guilty they lose it
Actually a sound suggestion.
Require a bond to file after even 5 years…case dismissed/not guilty - bond pays defendants legal fees.
People get a lot less brave attacking others when their $$ is on the line - especially when it’s the “victims” attorney who is required to put up the cash. Wanna represent victims - great, just more incentive to ensure you vetted your clients story and honesty and aren’t using the courts to your advantage to squeeze someone for a payoff to avoid bad press.
It’s only fair - attorneys take these cases on a contingency fee..getting 40% plus expenses for whatever they collect. Easy money and no real risk if they lose..give them an incentive to take only credible cases and watch how few there suddenly become civilly.
If victims want to press criminal charges - they still have that option. But civil suits both parties need to have something to lose to be fair.
