Definitely a colorful personality and great coach.

Resurrected ND from a decline.

Still remember ‘88 championship team beating the Mountaineers. It was funny because he had been booked to come back to the valley that March for some sort of chamber of commerce event as speaker. Of course - being right on the river - TONS of WVU fans (especially as Ohio State sucked that year and many band wagon fans backed WVU).

It’s funny - 2 of the best known sports names passed within a month (Maz and Lou Holtz) - add in Bobby Douglas (legendary wrestler coach and Olympic wrestler) and that’s 3 this month.

Bobby Douglas might be the most underrated person in Ohio sports history.

Odd to think tiny ass little Bridgeport, OH had Bobby, Phil Niekro and John Havlicek on their teams all in a 2 year period. John graduated and Phil/Bobby were ‘59 I believe. Odder - Niekro’s and Havlicek were neighbors.

Complete stupid the OVAC has never honored Bobby by naming the wrestling tourney after him. Maybe now they finally will - took them forever to even induct him into their HOF despite his wrestling HS in the conference and starting his college career across the river at West Liberty.

Keith Olbermann getting utterly roasted on Twitter now because he called Holtz a "legendary scumbag."
