I still have a landline but it call forwards to my cell...business purposes...have used a landline for business since 1985 so that number is out there. You'd be surprised how many people have told me they texted me and it didn't go through-because they texted the landline

Contact your provider and get them to change the settings. You'll also need a landline phone that is capable of receiving and displaying text messages.

I'm in the UK so obviously rules and regulations are different. I'm hearing disabled. I have a landline mostly so I can contact the emergency services. I don't have a mobile phone as it would just be an expensive way to text when I don't need to. I noticed that my landline phone had text settings on it. I contacted my provider and they switched the text facility on. It should have been on anyway as part of the free calls packages. Most people don't have text capabilities on their landline phones or don't want it...so providers switch the facilities off by default. Normally I get text messages from Amazon providers before they deliver.

Haven’t had one for 7 years actually - not available.

I was “required” to have one by my work - not a VOIP - but an actual landline to supplement my cell. Got notice one day that AT&T was ending landline service in my area - telling me I could go to VOIP via fiber line.

When I moved - asked and was told no landline - new development was built immediately next door and when they did - they never installed service to support land lines.

It physically is not available anymore - of course biggest concern I have if things go to shit is not being able to contact people. I’ve got solar generator, propane, supplies and ability to take care of myself - figure if people want to communicate with me - it’s their problem - not mine.

No landline. Not for 6 years.

Kids are NOT moving towards landlines. Won't happen. A few phone companies in California are petitioning the utility commission to do away with them gradually over time.

Would you use. your landline to receive incoming calls for $7 for 25 minutes? I have some business for you if you are interested.

I remember when i was 17 I used to call a chat line and racked up a huge bill and my dad got pissed and asked what it was, he called it himself and told me to stop whacking off on the phone and to start studying more.
