I like the move as it's a 2 week layoff and the Preakness is a 1 3/16. Give the horse 5 weeks to recover in the Belmont stakes in Saratoga. Of course takes away from the sport in a way as there will be no Triple Crown winner this year. But until the powers that be space out the races better this will continue to be an issue imo.

The trainer did an interview on Dan Patrick yesterday and the Triple Crown is now even a factor. It doesn’t matter how many weeks between races, she emphasized the health of Golden is more important than any race. I hope they don’t move the races. The triple crown should always mean greatness, not convenience or getting lucky breaks.

I disagree. most race horses T-bred run with longer breaks between now then in yesteryear. It was standard protocol to run with much less rest in the past. I think it should be a 3 week break between the derby and the Preakness. at a minimum. Just my 2 cents. You don't win 3 classic grade 1 races in a row getting lucky breaks for sure.

Pavlovian is a contender for Preakness
The two-week turnaround from the Derby to the Preakness, which used to be commonplace, is considered a nonstarter for many trainers and owners given that most elite thoroughbreds now typically go a month or more between races. It has caused endless debate in horse racing circles about the spacing of the Triple Crown in modern times.

Maryland racing officials are considering moving the Preakness back from the third Saturday in May to the fourth to increase the chances of not just the winner but other horses from the Derby being considered for the second leg of the Triple Crown. None of the 18 who ran this year at Churchill Downs are heading to the Preakness, with Golden Tempo the only one even considered.

I was looking forward to beating him in the Preakness, his come from downtown style wouldn't play near as well in the Preakness as in a huge field with a fast pace like the derby. I will be looking elsewhere in the Belmont if he runs.
Belmont run at at the SPA this year again. Think it's at 10 Panels same as the derby not 12 as if run at Belmont Park. So longer race than the 1 3/16 at the Preakness. I would have tried to beat Golden Tempo in Balt. not sure for the Belmont.

Golden gave us the race of a lifetime in the Kentucky Derby, and we believe the best decision for him moving forward is to give him a little more time following such a tremendous effort."
don’t know if I posted it but thought right after the derby his style fits Belmont much better I’d think.

Takes a super horse (or one suped up like Baffert’s) to win all 3.
