Some pretty big prices with both Garcia’s “Tiger” and Gilmour’s “black strat” hitting near 12 million.

Cobain’s Mustang sold for around 6 million.

Still - I remember airway talking about a very serious offer a few years back from a middle eastern gentleman to buy it all for north of 100 million.

Don’t know who bought Gilmour’s guitar - but Tiger will remain both available for public display and entrusted to connections of The Grateful Dead for shows - which is nice to see.

They must be doing a 2nd sale still

Did he own the MTV Unplugged guitar that whose ownership was contested between Cobain’s daughter and her ex who called it a “gift” and promptly sold it the moment he won possession?

Also owned a copy of the Declaration of Independence didn’t he ?

Seeing the stupid money these iconic guitars are bringing - then thinking about EVH and “Bumblebee” (used on Van Halen 2 and toured extensively in that era) and what he did with it.

How long till some dumbass decides to give grave robbing a go ?

Got to figure that ones worth a mill at least…probably a couple.

Damn - just reading phillyflyers buddy Zach Bryan paid 12 million for Jack Kerouac’s original of On The Road (written on a 120 foot scroll).

Knew he was a fan of Kerouac - great work of course, been years since I read it.

That’s still pretty damn impressive price though.

Thanks - thought so.

Not the “original” but looked it up - commissioned by John Quincy Adam’s to “preserve” the original - recognizing how important the document was in 1820 or so.

The connection to JQA added significant value vs say an early reproduction.

Naturally- his father advocated for it, was on the committee that drafted it, and ultimately signed it!
