Who would and wouldn't be able to work for you?

The way I am, I only got two rules.

Anyone can work for me unless you're a rat or a pedophile.

I'm willing to give any other person a chance.

What say yous?

The two items you list are a given. No one is going to hire them. Background checks (criminal and w/ former employers) are a given.

There has been turnover over the years but, the 6 people I have now are great. A lot of things are involved but, these traits come to mind off the top of my head.

• Must be honest and have integrity. - Dishonesty = auto no hire (or auto-fired)
• Works with others well. (No A-holes, No narcissists, etc...). Treat eveyone with respect.
• Flexible/Adaptable. Stuff is changing all the time. Go with the flow.
• Responsible - shows up to work on time (w/ few absences). Gets tasks accomplished.

Although they are helpful to have up front, the technical skills can be taught to the right people willing to learn. It's not a deal breaker if you don't have extensive background in the industry.

My 2 siblings are experiencing this rn, and almost the same complaint I hear from them over and over again. Anyways, my question to all business owners is... How do you handle ass kisser employees?
