If Bryce Young does not have an NFL Caliber Arm, how did Carolina miss that pre-draft?

A couple of weeks ago Young attempted to throw a 55 yard Hail Mary in the Game against Tampa. Instead of traveling about 55 yards into the endzone, it landed harmlessly about 20 yards out of bounds. It is clear that his arm strength is a liability among other factors. Man did Carolina screw things up by not taking Stroud. May have set their franchise back 3 years or so?

Does Bryce Young have arm strength?

His arm has always been average at best. He can only throw with zip to the short and intermediate area of the field. All his deeper throws require his whole body and float in the air so they become inaccurate, as seen in his dreadful deep ball stats.Nov 6, 2023

In Young's defense Car has one of the worst collection of wideouts in the league and a below avg O Line. Having said that it may be time for CAR to move in a different direction which may be tough to do.

he is only 5 ft. 10 in. tall.
n the case of Wilson, Mayfield and Murray, they were exceptions. Each had above-average NFL arms despite falling well short of normal starting quarterback size standards. If you simply watched the velocity of the ball out of their hands, or how effortless they ripped it downfield, you would've never guessed they were right around 6-0. Brees was an outlier because of his lightning-quick processing and surgical accuracy, one of the most striking combinations of that kind in NFL history.

The red-flaggy problem with Young is, he doesn't have a big arm and isn't ridiculously accurate with the football at all levels. That scares me. There's a difference between being short and being small. Young is the smallest of the above group of quarterbacks and doesn't have a monster arm. Yes, he reads the field well and doesn't have ball-placement issues. He's nowhere near as accurate as Brees was, and while he ad-libs awesomely, he doesn't possess Murray's explosiveness or top-end speed.

CAROLINA Should have read above scouting report

Everybody loves Alabama qbs. In college they throw to guys that are 5* recruits and are open by 5 yds. If Young was on any other team besides Alabama or Georgia he never would have won the heisman

yeah good point Renegade. In addition, he had a solid O line at Bama. At some point Carolina will have to cut to the chase and move on. when that is who knows? I just do not think he has an NFL arm. But if they improve the pieces around him he may prove me wrong. see what happens.
