I have my vacation spot in NC and saw this sign a couple weeks ago and had to take a picture and was like wtf am I in the wrong business?? 😂😲. Let's say you tow a Lamborghini for instance they are charging possibly up to 3000$ as it goes by the vin. I seriously need to consider opening a tow company with these prices 😂😂1000008280.png

The towing business is one of like 3 I constantly think of getting into (roofing and environmental remediation are the other 2) - but then I realize exactly how cut throat the damn business is and how slim the margin for error is.

Where in NC was this ? Can absolutely see shit like this out towards Duck/Corolla or Carolina Beach - places where the population is 90% visitors and businesses absolutely rape tourist.

3 years of working with big trucks and yesterday saw a first for me - place that charges towing by the pound! No miles, no difficulty of recovery - just 75 cents a pound regardless of if it’s just disabled and being towed a mile to the nearest shop or rolled over a hill 50’ down and needed multiple rotators to lift it out (at least according to the tow company). Of course I call bullshit on that - one’s a hour job max - the other takes a day and multiple crews and a couple million in equipment.

Work with many legitimate towing operators - it’s not an easy business. Equipment is big $$ - quality employees are scarce and the dangers are real. But if you can carve out a niche in your area and build a business - it’s good money. Just takes daily oversight and someone who knows how to get contracts.

It’s not easy work. It’s called blood money, but it does pay well.
Yeah it's just business man nothing personal. Some people they help too when they are broken down on the side of the highway with a blown motor or flat tire or just need gas coach. And then there's some people that get hurt when they park on private property or a paid lot and don't pay the parking fee then get towed. My cousin lives in NC he just sold his bar to his son and has a heck of a business parking cars with his son near the airport. They are killing it with the parking. 💰 So I had an idea. I'm really considering opening a tow company with him man 😉 😜

Yep sure did. By uncle Lukes old club between 5th and 6th Street on Lenox ave. Dude spit at me when he was at the vibrator violater (the porn store) he comes out and spits at me while I was towing his car and I had my slim Jim and maglight flashlight in my hands so I whipped him like a bitch with my slim jim. 😂 Jumped in my truck and he decides to take a ride on my hood while smashing my windshield so I took him for a ride. He was yelling at the people at Luke's club to call 911. Then when I stopped the truck he ran to his girlfriend which handed him a weapon. So from my truck I pointed my 9mm at him and told him he doesn't wanna do that. So he put it away and we went to fist fighting. People from Lukes club came over to watch us fight and all the sudden we had a crowd. 😂 Before we started swinging at each other his girlfriend tried to get to my wife which was with me and I shoved his wife away from getting to mine and I beat his ass. Meanwhile my nephew which was with me had called police and told them he had a gun. When they pulled up he had 10 cops that had him at gunpoint. Btw he was a manager at a blockbuster that went to jail that night.

I think I've told someone here about this before. No shit man. If he doesn't put the weapon away I definitely didn't have a choice but to shoot him. I had my fuckin laser on him. 😂 😁

Rough ass business - especially repo.

I feel for the guys that do it - 95% are hard working and honest. The other 5% are the problem.

Doesn’t surprise me Charlotte - a lot of problem operators down there.

Biggest problem is getting good employees - smart guys know to take care of their guys. Smartest thing you can do is hire an ex-con. I’d guess it’s at least 50/50 if you’re working for a tow company you did time. They are grateful for the opportunity, don’t take shit from the loudmouths and it’s good pay if you can do nights/weekends. Years ago when I was working out of a Copart office got to know a lot of the drivers - Christ what a crew of misfits - but like I said I’d trust some of those guys over my own family. They know what hard time is and are grateful for opportunities.

Yeah I know copart. They auction cars for the insurance companies down in Copart Miami too. But yeah I also did repos and we were getting 500$ per car which really isn't much when you think about it.

Pipe you are one interesting guy with a ton of stories. Would be great to have a drink with you one day and pick your brain.
When and if I ever get down to vegas man the drinks are on me my brother. 👊 I'm trying to plan a trip down there in the near future as I haven't been there yet. I have in my truck just not in vacation. But I have to make sure everything's covered. I know where we will be hanging out at the sportsbooks. Hopefully we win and they will be the one's paying for the drinks and food. 😁 😂

Towing and Roofing both physically hard and or dangerous jobs but there is money in it.

Key is be the brains and the money - find immigrants to do the hard work in both.

Copart is a joke - pay poverty level wage, but for many they have one use - truck in a box. They have a program that lets you finance a new truck and start up using them as co signer on the note. Let’s a lot of guys get new trucks easily - all for signing their life away in indentured servitude to hauling wrecked cars for $50.

The key - get your new truck, then line up a cheap used one to haul their shit using a hired hand. Only way you make money with them is paying someone else less..and then save your good truck all that wear and tear - find a decent secured lot and start getting on rotation list towing/impounding and make some $$.
