Cliff Lee, by far.

Played a intra team game in 2000 out in Cape Fear (yes, THAT CAPE FEAR) guy was a stud from day 1 w Montreal!

Played against Glen Perkins in a scrub league (he played wood bat summer league after HS, before the draft)

Brian Whinnery, a local kid, had solid stuff too but I think he topped out w the Northern League.

Rest of the defunct Prarie League (3rd incarnation) was mostly Hispanic kids, position players that couldn't grade out, that Montreal tried to turn into pitchers.

On kid, Rouqu or Rouqe, had HEAT. Kid was like 6'5 and good for 2k per inning but never went anywhere, but had a slide piece that was devastating second pitch but couldn't throw it for a strike.

Regina, up in Saskatchewan, best town ever. Used to take AWESOME fishing trips over by Moosejaw w the locals.

Bus life was hard, so was $220/ week in pay! The food was ok, but you had to get to the food early because dudes always grabbing food right outta the shower.

We had to implement a rule

"No dick by the spread" because these Hispanics had no self control or manners. They'd shower w no soap then naked as the day they were born they'd go grab a plate and load up....weiner hanging out & all.

Crazy Mitch lol. Wet laundry!

That was just before I got there, he got fired after that, and the league was no longer independent. Montreal purchased the teams as an instructional league.

That game might be the only professional game where a team played in protest, won, then was forced to forfeit the win!

Mitch btw, was the ACE of the 85 Cubs AAA staff that included both Greg Maddux & Jaimie Moyer

He was just an alcoholic

I worked w him later at the Rice/ Arlington sports dome here.

He tried inventing a new form of baseball, played in a finite amount of time w putting dudes on base, etc.

Very ahead of his time actually looking ahead 25 years.

He rubs a non profit now called ACE (attitude concentration effort) teaching inner city kids how to be winners

He's still my lawyer to this day, we worked together for 15 years in various ways!

Manitoba did Smelt night on a Friday...which is a fish, but one fails to realize how bad the garbage smelt the following morning. Try working in the bullpen, when the dumpsters are right there, it's 95 degrees and there's leftover fish garbage from 2000 fans rotting in there!

I had a great youth...on top of that my family was a local beer distributor in MPLS so I always had a job, $$ if needed, access to the best hangouts, connections and of course free beer!

We sold out in 2006 and aside from a stint in the Dakotas running my own Fed Ex Ground outfit (FX GROUND is private, alot of people don't know that) I've been doing pay day loans/ check cashing locally whilst spending winters in Florida and now Costa Rica, where I soon hope to open a small casino in Tambor.
