Pass Provides Free Entrance to National Parks, Wildlife Refuges and Other Public Lands
WASHINGTON — Today, the Biden-Harris administration announced that starting on Veterans Day (Nov. 11), veterans of the U.S. Armed Services and Gold Star Families can obtain a free lifetime pass to more than 2,000 federal recreation sites spread out across more than 400 million acres of public lands, including national parks, wildlife refuges, and forests.

Sorry but ole Joe can take his free access and shove it up his ass. I frequent my local VFW and I got fellow vets there with no arms, legs, eyes, burn scars so horrible they won’t even go out in public. These guys with wounds like this get a three grand a month in disability, that’s it. Try asking them if they feel like they we’re appreciated, Hell no they were not, and imagine sitting there with no legs and living in a shit hole home watching ole Joe have let over 2 million illegal aliens in or those living off the government who get more in rent assistance, food stamps, cash on preloaded cards, free phones, etc. every month and tell them why they dont get the same.

my dad has been going through hell with the VA. he has stage 4 cancer (agent orange & still fighting it), disabilities with his ears, nerve damage in his hands, just had every single tooth pulled from his mouth. he is in pain 24/7. the VA just decided to take away his disability check every month which was the 3k because his PSA levels went down a tiny bit. meanwhile he is still having treatments and his whole life has changed because of agent orange.

the government does in fact need to take better care of their vets.

This is a fact. Veterans deserve better.

This has been a problem for decades through multiple administrations. It's unfortunate we've lost some big advocates like John McCain and John Kerry to help drive bills through congress.

I hate to say this - but Veterans Day is beginning to feel like another “marketing holiday” more than anything.

You know how many damn emails I got today with American flags on them talking about how great our veterans are and how places are “saluting them” with a special sale today only ?!? It’s as ridiculous as saying “Happy Easter and he has risen - but our prices have dropped”.

I’d be willing to bet if you ask 100 people under age 40 - 85% will have no idea why we honor vets on this day - and it’s a damn shame.

Also amazing to me how attitudes have changed even in the course of my life towards veterans. But the hoopla over this day is just getting stupid. I can honestly see why many who served stay home today. Some poor guy who would rather forget what they dealt with a lifetime ago as a 19 year old kid drafted into service having to spend a day answering “were you in the military” and getting the inevitable “thank you for your service” from some damn otherwise well meaning kid at McDonalds or WalMart.

I never served - but I’ve been around veterans for a while between my dad and the wife working at the VA - so maybe I’m just biased. But to me it’s like walking around proclaiming your religion on Christmas - but never attending a church the other 364 days a year. It’s a day to reflect - but it’s not something to be ignored the other days.

Got wired and now crashing with free coffee at Starbucks, Circle K and Krispy Kreme (w/ a donut). Now sleeping until happy hour for drinks and free food!

Was watching Blue Jackets/Oilers game last night and this hardcore dude was being interviewed where he joined the military at 16 yrs old during WW2. Youngsters could never do that now.
