Can't society just ignore the AI findings and believe the falsehoods anyway? We already have fact checking that is ignored by many and misinformation is free to propagate. Maybe people will become more mistrusting and critical in the future because they are on guard from the AI fakery.

All hope is lost for society.

I'm more thinking about leadership and things like world leaders in videos they never made. Hate to see nuclear war over a deepfake.

For things that matter, those that matter can discern what matters. Everyone else will believe what sounds the best according to their education level.
