I remember when I used to go to state conferences at my old job we’d get $45 per day

I’d eat an inexpensive breakfast, usually paying out of pocket, and then go spend the whole per diem on a nice steak or seafood meal or something real good from room service

When I was working in Dubai I would get a $50 per diem. I would buy a chicken shawarma for just over $3 and would eat at McDonalds or KFC or Nando's chicken for $10 (this was in 2007) and pocket the rest.
