Well, if you dont mind getting treated like a criminal, its a decent option
(money not hitting a bank account is nice)

I cashed a Money Order in early December. It took forever and they were asking all sorts of questions.
Back in the day 10+ years ago, you just walked up and were handed your money and off you went.
Not, no more

If you don't have a bank and you're not paid in cash, there's not many options.

As it turns out, quite a lot of them issue them, but not all them cash them (unless its a refund)
It took me several check cashing places to find one that does

A lot of questions. Who is it from? Do you know the sender? Why did they send?
Where is it from? (Mine was from Costa Rica from Betonline)
Can we see the envelope it came in?? (I was like whaaaat bitch!, Why would I have it with me???)

Technically they would accept whatever info you give them, but still, its not like the "old days"

I used to go to these check cashing places often but never for checks just to send WU's to Maria Bianca Consuelo Ortiz usually. Many regulars like you JJ cashing checks.

I don't have a job that pays me directly it pays the business, I get paid from China and Vietnam into my Vietnamese bank account and my stripe account for China. They don't use checks here, it is a cashless society. No such thing as those places here.

Back in the day, I had my paycheck stolen out of my locker at work, and someone cashed it at one of these seedy places. It was like a check cashing place/Mexican market. I was under 18, so I went to this place with my dad. Long story short, I got my paycheck back, plus I think like $100 “interest” on top of it. Looking back, I think it was “hush money”, because my dad was ready to call the cops, and this place didn’t exactly look ‘legit’…..

Other than that, never. Never needed to.
