They've forced two involuntary sales in the last 5 years for mere comments.

They forced the Houston GM out for supporting human rights in China.

What can they do...they can take the franchise, they can put a competitor across the street, they can black out the games, they can change the tax to retroactive or increase it...

It's a monopoly, the league and owners can do whatever they want to inflict pain upon a non compliance situation
Aka they can do nothing

Exactly...
I'm sure there are some owners pissed about the situation but they are in the minority. Nothing will happen.
Yep

If they could've done something, it would've happened already

Plus the Warriors are far from the only organization that spends. Other teams just don't know how to spend money unfortunately (like the Wolves)

I thought the Wolves did a great job adding to the team they have.

Minny is never going to get a premire free agent because of the climate here. The average daily HIGH temp Dec 10- Mar 10 is literally in the single digits... it's not a comfortable living situation for most black men. The market is top 15 for exposure, but places like Milwaukee, Cleveland, Detroit or Chicago offer better black to black marketing opportunities, so Minnesota can't really spend it's way to the playoffs, but it can draft & trade and they made the biggest off season move in the NBA this year.

As for the league & GSW, we'll see. My guess is it's blown up at years end, or earlier if there's an injury that cripples them last a few years back.

It really looks like the Clippers are the most well rounded squad, with GSW and Den next, followed by Dal & Minny & Mem and I'd expect the seedings come post season to reflect in that order

Well they did just pay double for what Rudy Gobert is worth in draft compensation, and he doesn't make them much better at all.

Minnesota actually screwed up the trade market league wide
The picks will likely all be in the mid to late 20s. In the last 10 years only 4 guys not named Gobert, drafted 20+, have made an all star team.

It'd be different if these were lottery picks

But from the Wolves POV and my viewing, they beat Memphis w Rudy clogging the lane, they would have beaten Phx (as Dal did) and would be in the Conf finals...as I expect them to be this year.

They're gonna have serious lane-cloggins issues with Gobert in there. He is such a cog on offense. He hides some of the team's defensive flaws at the rim, but he can't fix some of the issues on the perimeter unfortunately.

They might get to the second round, but more likely they lose in round 1 (assuming they make it)

Unless the plan is to allow KAT to move out towards the perimeter and I think that's where the offense is going.

It's been 2 games, they blew a 20 pt lead last night which was disappointing, but the offense is more open than you'd think w those 2 big men out there.

4 easy games coming up, they should go 3 1, 4 0 maybe so after 2 weeks the TWolves will be adjusting to this and be 5 1 or 4 2...which I'll take as finding the rhythm for the new role players has been a process.

If all goes well then yes

But even then just don't see how they're better than Warriors, Clippers, Grizz, Suns, Mavs, or Nugs

I would put them equal to Dal & Den, ahead of Phx & I'm not worried about Memphis at all. Morant is so reckless and such a ball hog/ regular season player. He just drives vs 'NBA 0 defense in reg season' and gets regular season calls when teams try to block the lane BUT that shit changes in the post season, it's what's so frustrating about the NBA... it's really a different game in playoffs.

Same w hockey and the OT rules, the Wild literally got 30% of their points on OT wins last year because it was 3o3 and their top line was elite, but in playoffs you gotta skate 5!

MLB w stupid guy on 2nd rule, it's why I made my July "fade the Twins" call when they were 12 games over .500 with about 20% of their wins being in extra innings...it's unsustainable, as is Morants production in the post season.

WTH does that mean....an upper salary-cap without a limit?
if you don't have a HARD-CAP does it really do anything?
A soft hard cap hahaha

It won’t change much but hey at least they’re talking about it

Surprised Minny is in favor of limiting success and power like this and trying to get a more equitable distribution of resources . Pretty liberal of him 😂

It's a hard cap

NBA using language to change meaning

As with everything in life, one rotten apple spoils it for everything and everyone.

GSW owners pissed off the others, wouldn't voluntary fix it, so now the hammer coming

Doesn't the players association have ot agree to this as part of the next CBA?
I have to believe they won't go for this.

Yes & no

The cap is already a % of revenue, thats agreed to; enforcement is left up to the league as is compliance

There will be a nfl type restructuring of allocation of money versus dead money etc...there won't be much objection to this by the players, half the league is wanting this to move aged players out if the game anyway

Haven't really followed NBA salary cap and lux/tax issues since I never had a childhood team to follow. But does the NBA do revenue-sharing communism like the mlb, outside of the tv contracts?
