Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost is fluent in five languages: English, Spanish, Italian, French, and Portuguese. He can also read Latin and German.

Not sure if this is common amongst the Cardinals/Popes to be so versatile...

Not a dollar, sadly. Don't think many saw it coming betting wise

But if any long shot was going to win, he at least makes sense. he is progressive on key social issues, just like Francis was, and it was Francis that brought him in and put him in a real position of power. So if the guys wanted to stay in a general same direction he fit that criteria plus he has dual citizenship with ties to Latin America, so maybe that helped a bit as well.

I mean any time an American wins, it's an "upset" I guess you could say. But one that at least this time kind of fit the moment.
