i see portland oklahoma city

portland +13.5
okc -13.5

i can get portland to +14.5 at -135
i can get portland to +15.5 at -160

i can get okc to -12.5 -135
i can get okc to -11.5 -160

i dont' get it seems like points in basketball have very little value compared to football and risking more juice for 1 or 2 points in the long run will not work out am i wrong

I've always felt the same way about buying pts in basketball.

But, not doing so can be costly. I had 6 losses this weekend in CBB on spread plays. 2 were by 1 pt. The other two by the hook. 75% of my losses were by a free throw or less. It was a rare coincident to have them all pile up like that.

But, I still won't buy points in CBB or NBA. I don't see the value.
Its way different than football, like you mentioned.

Personally I would never buy points in basketball or tease them

You are better off trying to get a deal Live

For example Live total could be Under 135 -110

But the alternate lines are 134 +105 & 133 +120

The lines fluctuate so much you can get great deals

But of course a bettor has to have the time to be available to monitor

It's baseball I've found buying that extra 1/2 run on totals that can make or break you

If the pricing down the line is correct it shouldn't change your EV.

It's a mathematical conversion.

What happens here, if you do get EV, you can see the EV priced down the line. Now, you are in control of and can alter your probability of winning without, hopefully, changing your EV.

In this way you can, to a degree, manage money and adjust risk tolerance based on your goals when combining different levels of margin (EV) and adjusting win probabilities, similar to asset allocation when investing in other markets.

There is more to it, but I need to bounce for a meeting.

There are a lot of myths out there in sportsbetting, especially about parlays, teasers, buying and selling, etc. and they often get recycled.

Buying points is rarely a good move - even less so in basketball spreads.

When you’re talking a half point - all the more reason to have multiple outs and the ability to fund them quickly if needed.

Plenty of examples earlier today of books dealing a half point in some of today’s marquee games.

It is getting harder and harder to find books willing to break from the herd - but you can find the half point if you shop for value.

I have 8-10 outs .And found that buying points often on games between2-5 is usually an ok move...especially on games with lower totals
