It is their business because the person making the deposit could be a fraudster.

When you pay with a credit card online, if you enter an address for delivery that is differnet from the registered address of the card you are likely to have problems.

The kind of fraudster that places bets with money he doesn't have so if he wins he cashes out and if he loses he just moves on to the next account.

You are welcome to believe what you want, but you are wrong if you think there are no frauds going on within online gambling.

In this case(my case) I believe you are wrong pier0,because if Im fraudster and make my fraud actions with Netellers accounts I have of course one or more real Neteller accounts with real Neteller cards and bank accounts if I get some human data with 6k in Neteller account believe me I dont make deposits in sportsbook and risking with my money in sure bets to coat money to real account but simple trasfer from one neteller to other and withdrawl..
For trasfers you must know only secure ID if you dont know secure ID you cant deposit too...

I'm not talking about your case, which was quickly solved and if anything proves my point since the account had been blocked while they verified the
fact that two different addresses had been used.

In general there are certain best practices that online bookmakers follow to protect themselves and that includes checking the player used the same details to open the account and to register with the payment method.

If the details are different, there is alaways a chance they will look into it when the player asks for a payment, which is what happened in your case.

You obviosuly think this is not the case and I have nothing to gain by convincing you of the contrary, so this is my last post in this matter.

@tiket555 - you would not be happy if someone stole you ID and took you money? They have these checks in place for a reason. It was resolved to your satisfaction yet you still think they are a bad bookmakers? I cannot see what they have done wrong apart from protecting players interest.

My marathon bet account has been reduced to stakes of 86 pence. I won 3 bets totalling £400 payout and it got reduced to £50, I placed a bet with that which is still pending and now find it has been reduced to an unusable amount. Seems they are fairly adept at reducing limits for winning punters, I presume this wouldn't have been the case if I had lost.

@wadey - reduced your stakes to 86p????? CRAZY. They may as well have closed your account - surely they have a minimum bet like most other online sportsbooks?

Logged in this morning to see if I could place a bet for a horse at 10/1 and the maximum bet was still 86p, even for that. Minimum is 17p, not much scope eh? Almost tempted to place a few bets at 86p and lose just to see if the limit gets upped again.

Did you use <a href="https://www.bookmakersreview.com/bookmakers/marathonbetcouk-ex-panbet">Marathonbet.co.uk</a> or <a href="https://www.bookmakersreview.com/bookmakers/marathonbetcom">Marathonbet.com</a>? Can you have accounts at both sites, as they have exactly the same odds etc.

Hi I'm back again. I'm still keeping on my bets with marathon bet. I divivded my balances in few bookies and marathon has the smallest credits therefore I have smaller yield but I got some negative feedbacks from friends. They are investors in the market and using tipsters. They have a good profit in a year and after a period marathon decreased their limits. Now they are able to bet only an avg. of 1€ per game from any league , among any bet. This doesnt sound nice for a bookie who allows the participants to bet over 40K € for a major league game within a huge favourite playing. They dont have any issues during withdrawal but they arent using marathonbet anymore. So if you are planning to have some profit( as we all do) , I think you should stayaway from this bookie even they are irreplaceable with some of their market types.

@kean - you say stay away but you were so happy with them until they cut your limits. I guess you mean you should make hay while the sun shines with Marathonbet. Most bookies limit sharp players and close accounts with ease. You follow sharp pros, there will be only a handful of online sports books that would let you continue winning.

That might be right but I'm still unsatisfied with the situation they created. What you say is reality but this is supposed to change. If sb has a %20 yield with a 20k bankroll you have to deal with it as a bookie since there are also lots of players round placing over 40k on a single game that can meke profit more than %20 of 20k in 90 minutes. If you are going to limit people in one or two months then this means you have really low amount of rookie customers so that you cant decrease your losses in short periods. Whatever , I dislike this treatment , wtf is 1€ limitation , just send the money and close the account , it would have been more clear than any other action.

MarathonBet.co.uk odds on UK horse racing are quite attractive and they have a really good range of markets. The problem, as Mikepcon says, is that their limits are extremely low (even before you place a bet, let alone back a winner). Strictly for recreational players only in my view.

As many have said already, purely a recreational bookmaker. I opened an account, & all was fine that first day. On the second day, I was struggling to place a bet for over £10. Even betting odds-on markets limited Marathon bets liability to £10-£15. Absolutely pointless to continue using them from my point of view.
