Crazy news for us Kentucky fans. John Calpari is doing us a favor and taking the vacant Arkansas job. Now we don't have to pay his enormous 33 million dollar buyout and can focus on hiring the next head basketball coach at our storied program. I hope they go after Nate Oats because I think he'd listen even though he seems to love Alabama. He has an 8 figure buyout but Kentucky will be willing to pay it if thats the guy the want so stay tuned this is just crazy stuff happening in Lexington.

He did Kentucky a favor by leaving. They were in the unenviable position of not being able to fire him because they gave him a stupid lifetime contract with an unbelieable buyout but now that buyout goes away and they can pursue the next head coach at Kentucky with no issues. It's a win win for both sides because Cal was on his way out at Kentucky and now they don't have to fire him.

John Calipari is finalizing a five-year deal to become the next men's basketball coach at Arkansas, sources told ESPN on Sunday night, a blockbuster move that will shake up the SEC and college basketball landscape.

Calipari's contract is expected to have an overall base salary of slightly less than the $8.5 million he's making at Kentucky, sources told ESPN. However, the deal is expected to be incentive-laden with the ability to pass that number.

The contract is expected to be completed in the next 24 hours.

I konw it wasn't going well at Kentucky but I have to say its quite the "step-down" to head to Arkansas. If he wins there, a big if, and a blue blood school job opens, he's probably leaving really quick.
