I'll add that I didn't think he was that bad as Head coach, so there might be something else going on.

Heard a little more about this. I do think The Rooney Rule is pretty stupid. Teams will just interview coaches that they sometimes had no intention of hiring if they were set on another candidate but hadn't met the quota.
