It required that all people cross at an official crossing. Anyone crossing anywhere else is deported.
If they try to do it illegally they are banned from coming over legally in the future.

The best part was that the president could STOP ALL crossings if they exceeded 5k/day at legal crossings. This would have happened almost immediately and stopped the inflow. Now what do we have.... a damn mess.

The entire bill was negotiated by one of our most conservative senators alive (Lankford from Oklahoma). He had everything we (republicans) asked for in the bill. It left nothing out. The dems caved for two reasons... 1) they knew the border crisis was real and had to come up with something and 2) they desperately want to fund Isreal, Taiwan, and Ukraine spending. The Dems hated the bill, but were caving anyway.

We (republicans) will never get as good a deal again. Ever. It was a mistake.

That may be true.

But, he did say loudly during a campaign speech that if given the power (via the new bill) he would cut off the flow.

I think if the bill passed and he failed to follow through, he would lose by double digits instead of single digits in the election.

The biggest issue I have is now Biden can say, I was going to shut off immigration but GOP wouldn't let me and no one can really argue with that statement since that is how it appears. This gave Biden a huge advantage on the subject going forward.

I am pro George Bush Jr and Sr, not joking. I can only speak on my lifetime of presidents. I am very fond of both of them and wish we could get back to their policies. But for now Trump it is.

I completely disagree. There are many differences between Bernie Sanders with other progressives and Biden’s administration. There’s no entity behind Democrats. If there was one, then it would be a single force easily beating out the GOP.

If GOP have so many different ideas and plans, then why don’t some of them compromise with Democrats. I see GOP as one idea and that’s not to compromise with Democrats. And I think this type of debating is pointless and useless. Rather talk about policies such as abortion and gun control. And not debating weather there’s some non-existence Wizard of Oz who’s behind the curtains.
