What is the actual deal. I read articles and seems confusing

Is he an owner??
Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin co-own the NASCAR team 23XI Racing.
Drivers: Tyler Reddick, Bubba Wallace, and Riley Herbst.

They are suing over the way Nascar handles the "charter" system and believe the France family is raking in too much of the money and screwing the racing teams.

Basically as Tanko says.

NASCAR is a monopoly controlled be a single family - and despite being a “league” the parent organization tries to bully owners into doing things their way.

Imagine owning any pro sports team and the league has the right to disband your team and toss you out for finishing in the bottom 3 for 3 years in a row. No way would you pay millions of dollars for a team knowing this could happen - and imagine how much the value of a team suffers after just 1 bad year.

Worse - the league has full control of your standings. Again - you play in a normal league and win - nothing the league can do about it - but NASCAR can simply make up a “violation” claim something wasn’t “approved” and void your finish position easily.

It’s complete BS and 13 of 15 teams agreed knowing that the 2 who would not agree are going to be in the short end of any decisions made by the parent company.

Jordan's the owner but Reddick is what got them these wins.
Same equipment, lesser driver would not have won all 3.

Yeah, Jordan will tell you himself his part was fronting the money.

But the best way to see your investment through is to be there in the business every day.

Putting together the team is where the winning really takes place.
