Anyone into writing poems here? I wanted to share with the community my latest writing.

When I first met Christ
It seemed as though life was rather like a bike ride,
But it was a tandem bike,
And I noticed that Christ
Was in the back helping me pedal.

I don't know just when it was that
He suggested we change places,
But life has not been the same since.

When I had control, I knew the way,
It was rather boring, but predictable...
It was the shortest distance between two points.

But when He took the lead,
He knew delightful long cuts,
Up mountains, and through rocky places,
At breakneck speeds,
It was all I could do to hang on!
Even though it looked like madness,
He said, "Pedal"

I worried and was anxious and asked,
"Where are you taking me?"
He laughed and didn't answer,
And I started to learn to trust.

I forgot my boring life
And entered into the adventure.
And when I'd say, "I'm scared,"
He'd lean back and touch my hand.

He took me to people with gifts that I needed.
Gifts of healing, acceptance, and joy.
He said, "Give the gifts away;
They're extra baggage, too much weight."

So I did, I gave them to the people we met,
And I found that in giving I received,
And still our burden was light.

I did not trust Him, at first, In control of my life.
I thought He'd wreck it;
But He knows bike secrets,
Knows how to make it bend to take sharp corners,
Knows how to jump to clear high rocks,
Knows how to fly to shorten scary passages.

And I am learning to shut up
and pedal in the strangest places,
And I'm beginning to enjoy the view
And the cool breeze on my face
With my delightful constant companion, Jesus Christ.

And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore,
He just smiles and says...
"Pedal."

Rough hands worn by years of work,

A humble man whose mission was unclear,

Yet he showed us how to live a life of worth,

With every masterpiece he crafted so dear.

Through his hands, he built more than wood,

He built a purpose for each of our days,

Showing us that every task is important,

No matter how small it may seem in our ways.

In the darkest of nights,

In the depths of our fears,

We look to you for guidance,

And rise above the tears.

You are the light that brings hope,

The anchor that steadies our ship,

We trust in you to never fail us,

Through every storm we may encounter in our trip.

Amidst the trials of this earthly life,

You are a friend who remains steadfast,

You walk beside us through every strife,

And never forsake us till the very last.

In every moment, you listen to our hearts,

And understand our pain and our sorrow,

You comfort us with your love and compassion,

Guiding us to a brighter tomorrow.

From the first day I won a bet

I knew I would never ever forget

That feeling you get with your first win

Sports would never be the same again

It starts with a small wager here and there

And then every game has its own prayer

A gambler never makes the same mistake twice

If only we followed that advice

Instead, it’s usually three or more times

But we never learn to respect the lines

Life’s too short to bet the under

I tried that, a hell of a blunder

The home team has the advantage

But that doesn’t mean that they’ll manage

This team is hot, they got it for sure

What the f*** happened? That game was a blur

Why bet on one team when there’s parlay?

Don’t be greedy, just one team will pay

Oh they’re favored, moneyline is secure

Ha! I’m an idiot, that’s for sure

The line is wrong, the underdog has it

I’m such a dumb piece of shit

My team is looking good, I won’t hedge

We blew it, now I’m wedged

But it’s all about the thrill of the chase

Right. Just get me out of this place

I swear this bet is guaranteed to work

As I grab my credit card, with a smirk

Illini I had no idea that you had a degree in English, thought your college studies were
in Religion and Theology.
I have a master’s degree in education, bachelor’s degree in English and a special education credential Slickster. As well as many religious accomplishments.

Who round the hearth-stone used to close, After the evening prayer, And speak of what these pages said, In tears my heart would thrill! – Though they are with the silent dead, Here are they living still! My father read this holy book To brothers, sisters dear – How calm was my poor bother’s look, Who learned God’s word to hear. Her angel face – I see it yet! What thronging memories come! Again that little group is met Within the halls of home! Thou truest friend, man ever knew, Thy constancy I’ve tried; When all were false, I found thee true. My counselors and guide. The mines of earth no treasures give, That could this volume buy; In teaching me the way to live, It taught me how to die.

@KVB @Tanko @DiggityDaggityDo couldn't write a 1st graders fairy tale , let alone compete with me on my writing.
That’s why we have ChatGPT:

One day in Compton, Illini, Slick, Diggity, Genie, KVB, and Tanko gathered in Diggity’s backyard to discuss their latest sports bets. Illini, wearing his favorite Jesus-themed watch, shared his strategy, convinced that divine intervention guided his picks.

Slick, eyeing Illini's watch collection, declared, "These time pieces are like treasures, Illini! Almost as precious as Diggity's street cred in Compton."

Diggity, maintaining his hardcore demeanor, smirked and said, "I bet even the streets would place odds on Genie spreading positivity everywhere she goes."

Genie, always upbeat, chimed in, "You guys are the real winners! Tanko, I'm sure even the shed appreciates your company."

KVB, lost in thought about probability and odds, mumbled equations, causing Tanko to peek out from the shed, intrigued by the math talk.

As they continued their banter, Illini, inspired by his love for black baby Jesus, confidently exclaimed, "I have a divine feeling about tonight's games!"

Everyone laughed, each finding humor in their unique quirks. In the world of sports betting and diverse personalities, this crew proved that winning isn't just about the bets but also the bonds formed over shared eccentricities.

Sounds like the normal BMR meet-and-greet:
