He doesn’t have to live there in winter if he doesn’t like it. But I’m pretty sure he grew up in very similar climate to Toronto

I don’t think the gap in market size is something that really matters now. Toronto is not LA, but it is certainly “big enough.”
Maybe, personally I don't think Toronto is big enough for a player like Ohtani... it's a crappy city with major issues on many fronts. He probably would be better off in Vancouver if they had a team, plus the higher Japanese population there. We'll see what happens...

But I don't think not getting him is the end of the world

His value is a little bit overblown at this point
