JJ I've been there. It's cool as hell. I'm an engineer and love that stuff. I think I could have spent all day in the turbine room.
The wife and kids were more like.... meh....
You'd probably be bored with it. Besides its a lot farther from Vegas than most people realize. Burns up a good part of a day.
It's only about 45 minutes. Not bad at all

JJ it is now legal out here. You can go into any dispensary and buy whatever you want. Mount Charleston is really nice especially in the summertime

+ 1 hour tour
+ 30 min fight with the kids in souvenir shop
+ 45 min back to Vegas
Easy 4-6 hour trip.

Vegas is dead. It's impossible to even hope to win at gambling on the strip. And if you show any sign of brain activity you are booted.
Vegas is where all of society's rejects move.
90% of hotel employees are zombies and virtually every visitor to Vegas overindulges because the other 51 weeks of the year they are a Zombie Worker Bee in whatever city they live
Service is horrendous everywhere in the hotels. Lineups for everything. You even have to pay for a pool seat at many places now. Everything is overpriced and everyone wants a tip for nothing.
To me there is no more depressing place in N America
