A former student, so maybe a "cool" dude who's friends with the school guard?
How the hell did he just walk straight through the front door of a high school with no security checks??
Most of them, you can at least enter into the office area. I remember at my high school it was opened and then you walk into the actual school and go to the office that way.

So weird. I graduated in '98 and I know for a fact half the pick up trucks in the lit had rifles for the kids that would shoot ducks or pheasant or even deer before class.
